1. What are the advantages of washable sanitary pads in comparison to disposable ones?
Reusable menstrual products will change your view on the menstruation, as they are a friendly alternative to your body, your wallet and our joint planet.
Wash the sanitary pads before first use.
After use, choose between one of the following methods of washing:
The simplest method: wash the sanitary pads in the washing machine with another laundry, without prior soaking and rubbing of stains.
“Dry” method: rinse the sanitary pads with cold water and place them in a dry place (in a waterproof or cotton bag, dry bucket, etc.) or dry them on the clothesline before washing.
“Wet” method (soaking): after use, place the sanitary pad into a bucket with cold water. Change water daily (pour out and pour fresh cold water) and wash with another laundry in the washing machine at 95 ° C.
2. Can fabric softener or bleach be used for washing?
The use of fabric softener is not recommended, as it drastically reduces the absorption and effectiveness of Lali sanitary pads, while being harmful to the environment. As an alternative to washing, up to 1 dl of alcoholic vinegar is recommended. The simplest and most natural way to “whiten” the sanitary pads is to dry them in the sun. If not possible and if thorough (due to disease) disinfection is necessary, the use of oxygen-based bleaches, such as stain remover salt is recommended, as it contains sodium percarbonate, which during washing in water dissolves into sodium and hydrogen peroxide, removing the active oxygen that whitens and destroys the microbes. The sanitary pads are thus whitewashed and disinfected. Other effective whitewashing and disinfection agents are chlorine-based bleaching agents (e.g. Varikina), however, they are much more aggressive, health and environment harmful and can damage the fabric.
3. Do the sanitary pads need ironing?
If you do not have problems, the sanitary pads do not need ironing. In case of fungus and inflammation problems, it is recommended to iron the sanitary pads at a high temperature.
4. How many Lalipads do I need?
Since our bodies are different, some women need 6 pads per cycle, some 20 and more, while most are somewhere in between. The easiest way to decide on the number of Lalipads needed is to determine how many disposable pads you need per cycle. Washing pads are changed approximately as often as the disposable ones (2 to 6 hours or how many necessary).
When choosing to buy, please observe the offered sizes, shapes, degree of absorbency (additional pads) and LaliPad materials. With proper use and care you will be able to use them for many years once you have enough of them.
Advice for saving money: create a sufficient supply of washable pads gradually. To begin with, buy a small amount of pads, wash them in the evening and use immediately the next day. However, keep in mind that such frequent washing of the pads drastically reduces their lifetime.
• When choosing to buy, use the offered package for beginners.
• Are Lalipads impermeable?
All Lalipads with wings contain a waterproof polyurethane coating that breathes but is impermeable. However, for a truly “dry experience” during the menstrual period, estimate yourself what size of the pad is best suited to your menstrual flow, when is the time to change the pad and when to use an additional pad.
5. Can washable pads be used for mild stress urine incontinence?
Yes. They can be used for a mild, unwanted urine leak that occurs when walking down the stairs, sneezing, coughing, running, sex, laughing, etc. Lalipads are made of skin-friendly materials. They contain an impermeable layer that breathes, which is especially important for those who use them every day. It is recommended that you select pads made from bamboo or hemp, which are very absorbent materials with antifungal and antibacterial properties (to prevent development of unpleasant odours).
6. Can I still use washable pads, although I have very strong menstruations?
Yes. Lalipads are very absorbent. We suggest that you adjust the absorption with larger pads (pad L or night pad) in combination with auxiliary pads (Optional Pad and Night Extra Pad).
When is the use of small (S) pads reasonable?
Small pads are recommended:
– during weak menstruation or during the last days of menstruation;
– for the sense of safety in combination with a menstrual cup;
– as an alternative to “daily” pads – during ovulation when a more severe discharge of the cervical mucus occurs;
– to protect underwear after sexual intercourse;
– to protect the laundry when you take medications that must be inserted into the vagina (e.g. antidepressant pills).
Are LaliPads comfortable?
Yes! LaliPads are very absorbent, but thinner than most of disposable pads, even from most of other washable ones. Their shape is adapted to the anatomy of the body for maximum comfort during the days of menstruation. They are made of soft and comfortable materials that breathe and are friendly to your sensitive vaginal area. They do not contain harmful materials and chemicals. They do not dry out your mucous membranes and do not cause the toxic shock syndrome. The impermeable layer is embedded in the pads, which means that they do not make noise when worn.
7. When placing the pad on the underwear, wrinkling occurs. Is there a solution?
First, check that you have selected the appropriate underpants to go with the pad. Believe it or not, but more or less suitable underpants do not exist for this purpose: the most appropriate are those that have a narrow part where the pad is placed; less suitable are therefore those with a wider piece of fabric in this area.
If during your menstruation you cannot give up your favourite underpants, which is naturally not the best choice for washable pad placement, nothing is wrong. The solution are the wing extenders, which you will soon find in our offer.
8. Do washable pads smell?
With frequent changing, they will not emit any smell. The fabric of the pads is breathable and allows evaporation of moisture, making the development of bacteria and the formation of unpleasant odours less possible. They will give you a sense of dryness until they are filled to their capacity and it is time to change the pad.
If you notice the presence of a (strong) unpleasant odour, the reason may lie in vaginal fungal infections, which are very common, especially in women using disposable pads and tampons (not sterile). They are made from artificial materials that, during the menstrual period, cause damp and sweaty environment, ideal for the occurrence of bacteria and unpleasant odours.
9. What about the use LaliPad when we are from home?
The use of washable pads at school, at work, on a trip, etc. is not at all as complicated as one might think and (other than washing) is quite similar to your routine with disposable pads. All you need is a waterproof bag or a toilet pouch, where you can store a sufficient amount of pads for the period when you are away from home. Afterwards, wash them at home as usual.
Suggestion: if you are away from home for a longer period of time (for example, on holidays), you can take with you a small amount of pads and then wash, dry and reuse them as you go along. This additionally reduces the amount of luggage.
